Halloween
I am the offspring of both the world’s biggest Halloweener and the world’s biggest Halloween grinch. My mom literally makes two costumes for herself every year and my dad actually turns all the lights in the house out so no kids will knock on his door. I fall somewhere in between. I’m not enchanted by the drama of dawning a disguise, but I love the craftiness: jack-o-lanterns and DIY costumes. This year, I never quite got my act together. I had a brilliant costume idea, but couldn’t quite convince my mom to make it. So, instead, Hardy came over and we dispensed candy to the teeming hordes of trick-or-treaters (including the few depressing overweight teenagers with no costumes). Check out the chaos below. Then Karl cooked this yummy Moroccan Squash with Quinoa from a recipe in the Bon Appetit my dad stuck in his stocking last Christmas.
So, we had fun, but I’m inspired by these amazing neighbors of mine. So, next year, while I might not build a whole Broadway set in my front yard (what yard?), mark my words, I’m going to carve a great pumpkin and Karl and I WILL be decked out in our pairs ice skater costumes if it’s the last thing I do.
